Second Exchange of good practices
The second Exchange of Good Practices was online on 24 February 2021.
The Community Justice and Elevate Glasgow shared the development of the "ChoiceWorks" Project.
ChoiceWorks aims to tackle the causes of crime and antisocial behaviour in Glasgow.
The ChoiceWorks Programme aims to support people to move forward to tackle their offending behaviour through individual support, groupwork sessions and training and employability opportunities.
The Team are there to help people get where they want to be,
providing support with issues in their personal life (such as housing, drug and alcohol misuse, money worries) as well as addressing their offending behaviour.
The staff provides one to one support and when ready, work with clients to create CV's, apply for jobs or attending training courses. Clients work on the Programme at their own pace and are provided with the support needed to succeed.
Being involved in ChoiceWorks is voluntary. However, if the client is currently undertaking a Community Payback Order (CPO), engaging in the programme can possibly count towards their sentenced hours. Support is tailored to the clients who take part in the Programme. Once clients are ready, ChoiceWorks Employment and Training Advisors ensure they are supported in applying for jobs or college or explore training placements and volunteering opportunities.
